 PlayBasic Quick Review I only d/l PlayBasic yesterday so it's too early to give any real review as yet. But my first impressions (given I lost my Blitz Basic CD a couple of years ago) are:
1) It seems an excellent replacement for Blitz basic - not surprising since it incorporates Blitz to some extent.
2) The demos and game samples that came with PlayBasic are excellent and show what it is capable of.
3) The IDE is 'ok' (I'm a VB and C#/C++ user (both legacy and .Net) so I'm used to powerful IDE's from MS.)

 very fun and simple to learn this new language especially if you have some programming experience before...and for those newbies out there this is a great place to start your dream.....I wish that the language incorprates 3d features as well....

 on review of Gentee I am very surprised that this language isso powerful yet is so compact. I did notexpect the language to have this muchversatility. I am quite impressed.

 I wanted to show my son (age 7) something about programming. While most programs are done in some form of C, basic is what i know (knew?) I was very glad i found this, and was able to show him how to do an endless loop, and how to correct it.(one note: With an endless loop, had to Endtask , to stop it from running. I am new to programming and found Just BASIC very usefull. The totorials are very helpful.The way it colours things like variables and statements is also very usefull.
 Can Just basic end product run on Vista Just like to know if the programs developed using just basic can be used on Windows 7 and Vista?From the downloaded sample there dont seem to be a function to compile the program source codes. ARe the programs all in interpreter modes.RegardsAlan
Beginner Since I am a beginner, I am just beginning to learn, so there is much I cannot comment on at this time.Just Basic is, to my relief, no as complicated most other Basic Versions.I have programmed in the original Basic which could perform graphics very rapidly if the code was tight.I find newer basics, such as Just Basic, slow graphic performance too much for professional level games.I believe too much excess has been added to the Basic Language.The saying is still true: KISS. In other words, Keep It Simple Stupid.For those that keep adding ...
My comments on Just Basic I have been using BLitz (BRL) compilers for years and im pleased to see new compilers around like this, since BRL poorly supports its "For sale" products im amazed to see so many better products even for free!
